Summer concert season has begun and I find myself thinking about the little triangle, all by itself among the other instruments in an orchestra. There are many violins, many cellos, many trumpets, many clarinets, and many flutes. But there is usually only one triangle yet its sound is clear, pure, and distinct. It gives to a piece of music a beautiful completion.

How many of us feel we are like that little triangle, small and insignificant among the symphony of people? But think about how much we must add to the complete piece of life if we but ring a clear, pure, and distinct sound.

So it is with the words we speak and the testimony of our daily life. 1 Cor. 14:7 says “whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?” I want to be like that triangle sounding out a clear and distinct sound that will benefit those around me and others who may be watching or listening.

May my words and actions also be gracious and said in love remembering that my little “triangle of life” is needed and necessary within the body of Christ. Together we make a beautiful symphony with the clear and distinct sound of the Gospel message. Lord, help us to ring our triangles with precision.
