Built in the 1800’s, this almost two century old one-room schoolhouse is now the home of the Tree of Life Christian Bookstore. Tree of Life carries new and used books, Bibles, study helps, music and videos, gifts, local crafts, and supplies for children, youth, and adult classes.
This out-of-the-way bookstore is centrally located in the heart of the North Country and welcomes you to its peaceful corner for reading pleasure and spiritual growth. Come by soon to visit, have a cup of coffee, find that special book, and get refreshed.

Tree of Life is situated in the middle of West Potsdam (formerly Mom’s Schoolhouse Diner) where County Routes 34 and 35 cross. It is approximately 5 miles from Potsdam, 8 miles from Canton, 6 miles from Norwood, and 20 miles from Massena or Ogdensburg.
Hours & Payment Methods
Open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
We gladly accept cash, check, or credit card.
We will be open by appointment or chance during the month of January while we check inventory, rearrange, restock, and get ready for the coming year. We wish you blessings upon blessings in 2019!
Classes, Workshops & Singing
Once a month Tree of Life is hosting an Old-Time Gospel Sing-Along. This month we will have a "Shop & Sing" on Friday December 14 from 6-8 pm. We invite you to sing along with the Old-Time Gospel Choir while shopping for those special gifts. Refreshments will be served, too.
Our next workshop will be in February and we will announce details as soon as we have decided what will be offered. Stay tuned.
Receiving Used Books
Dick will receive used Christian books on the days we are open or by appointment. He will go through the books while you wait or shop. Our policy is to give a voucher to be used in the bookstore at your convenience and any books can be taken with you if Tree of Life is not able to use them. Thank you for wanting to recycle books for others to enjoy.
