Welcome to the Tree of Life’s blog called “Just Around the Corner.” But first I want to introduce you to Dick and myself, Sharon. Dick is a carpenter, artist, writer of poetry, essays, and short stories, a book collector and reader, and he also collects teddy bears and other stuffed animals.
Before you think that strange, come and meet him and his friends at the bookstore. You will be delighted in Dick’s ability to make them come alive with a personality and message of hope and fun. I am a homemaker who likes to bake rather than cook, enjoys singing and playing the piano for fun and relaxation, dabbles in journal writing, loves 1964 ½ Mustang convertibles, and am happiest when planning some kind of event.
We enjoy one another’s company and love working together.
Together Dick and I home-schooled our five children, owned and ran Mom’s Schoolhouse Diner, have the Rose of Sharon Bed and Breakfast, and are now opening the Tree of Life Christian Bookstore. We have fifteen grandchildren (with another on the way) and four great-grandchildren.
“Just Around the Corner” is intended to be a journey or record of life in a bookstore. We are located on the corner of County Routes 34 and 35, hence the name for the blog. I intend to include the joys and struggles of our “bringing forth fruit in old age,” (Psalm 92:14a) as we endeavor to keep working and serving as long as God allows. You are invited to come around the corner in West Potsdam and shop, visit, or just browse at Tree of Life. It is our goal to help with your spiritual needs and growth in the Lord.
